The ideal agriturismo in Tuscany for a family vacation

This agriturismo has everything you need for a wonderful family holiday. A beautiful location with pool, spacious apartments, a welcoming owner and a restaurant with organic produce from their own farm. What more could you want! The access road is a bit narrow, but there is only destination traffic. And once arrived you get rewarded with a beautiful view and wonderfully peaceful environment without traffic!

It was beautiful weather when I visited the agriturismo in October and by its location on a hill I had fantastic views of the northern part of Tuscany. The agriturismo is specializes in olive oil and organic sheep cheese and dairy products. These products are also sold in their own shop, at the restaurant. The sheep have plenty of space on the 19 hectares site, which mainly consists of olive groves. The agriturismo has its own olive mill (the harvest is from October to November) and an artisan cheese factory. On request and for a fee they organize a tour of the farm and guests can watch the cheese making from close by.

The agriturismo also has a small playground and a ping-pong table and there is wifi. There is a shared stone BBQ with wood oven for guests to use. There is also a shared washing machine and dryer.

Restaurant and breakfast

The restaurant of the agriturismo is located on the top of a hill about 10 minutes by car from the apartments and villas. But you can also take a hiking trail over the agriturismo grounds (about 20 minutes walking). You have to walk up the hill and at night the path is not lit so bring a flashlight. The restaurant uses all of the agriturismo products, such as olive oil, olive pate, various types of sheep cheeses and meats, yoghurts and desserts. From mid June to mid September the restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday and also for lunch on Sunday.
The rest of the year the restaurant is open from Thursday to Sunday for dinner and Saturday and Sunday also for lunch. It is advisable to book your table well in advance as the restaurant is very popular with the locals. Breakfast is also served in the restaurant and is available for a fee. It must be booked in advance, when you book your apartment.

The agriturismo is centrally located in Tuscany between Florence (1 hour), Pisa (1 hour) and Lucca (45 minutes). Some authentic villages are located at 5 km and the beach is about an hour away. For the children, a visit to the Pinocchio park is very nice (30 km).

The apartments

There are 5 apartments of approximately 80m2, each on the ground floor with two bedrooms on the first floor. Each apartment has a private terrace for outdoor dining and some apartments have a private garden. Air conditioning is only in one of the two bedrooms. The 5 apartments share a large swimming pool of 12x6 meters with sun beds and parasols.

Two private villas with swimming pool

In front of the apartments is a 160m² detached villa with 3 bedrooms, a living room and a large kitchen with patio doors to a covered terrace. In the enclosed garden is a private swimming pool of 8x3 meters and there are sun beds in the garden. This villa is ideal for those who want some privacy but also like the facilities and the cosiness of an agriturismo.

There is also a larger villa of 230m² with a total of 4 bedrooms, all with private ensuite bathroom and air conditioning. Due to the layout this villa is also very suitable for 2 families. There is a large covered terrace with long tables where you can eat outside and the villa has stunning views. In the olive grove next to the villa is a swimming pool of 8x4 meters with a lot of privacy. For a fee the pool of the larger villa can be heated e few degrees.
